Myra-Ida van der Veen is a multimedia performer, singer and electroacoustic instrument builder living in the Netherlands. She graduated in Art/Science in The Hague and joined the Dutch collective iii (instrument inventors’ initiative). There she made the instruments for her performance Second Breath, and runs a programme of workshops at the intersection of art, sound and technology.
In her artistic practice, Myra-Ida van der Veen is interested in the interactions between the body and its extensions in space. She reinvents a form of craft and imagines performances where electronics, vocal practice, poetry and visual scenes meet. She mostly focuses on the process of collective creation and production as a way of building community and care. With visual atmospheres, smells and a broad variety of different instruments, she created performative spaces where the boarder between audience and performers is playfully fluent.
