More about the venue

During the day, a city-wide trail of installations combining visual arts and new technologies is proposed. Accessible alone, with friends or family, this curious excursion is an invitation to dream with eyes wide open. Particular attention is given to welcoming the audience, thanks to the presence of a mediator, or contents and tools enabling visitors to discover the installations in a different way.

Instabilités, Tristan Ménez & Benjamin Le Baron

Art/science & kinetics | Ambient music | Audiovisual installation

With Instabilités installation, Tristan Ménez and Benjamin Le Baron create a poetic and sensitive translation of a scientific experiment. Exploring the similarities between the movements of the infinitely small and the infinitely large, they offer a contemplative and immersive experience.

The piece explores Marangoni fragmentation*, discovered in 1865 by Italian physicist Carlo Marangoni. Instabilités invites us to contemplate a kinetic and sonic tableau, observing the movements and interactions of fluids captured and processed by a program triggering sounds and music in real time.

*This physico-chemical phenomenon occurs when two different substances, which cannot mix, are brought into contact with each other. The forces and surface tensions of the two fluids then oppose each other, tending towards equilibrium.

Instabilités is not suitable for people who are photosensitive or prone to epileptic seizures.

Instabilités is presented in partnership with Les Champs Libres, as part of the Fête de la Science.
