During the day, a city-wide trail of installations combining visual arts and new technologies is proposed. Accessible alone, with friends or family, this curious excursion is an invitation to dream with eyes wide open. Particular attention is given to welcoming the audience, thanks to the presence of a mediator, or contents and tools enabling visitors to discover the installations in a different way.

Organicity & aBiogenesis, Markos Kay

Art/science & generative art | Artificial intelligence

Markos Kay designed the visual identity for Maintenant 2024 : Organicity, a triptych at the crossroads of art and science. He also presents his key work, aBiogenesis. Using artificial intelligence, the artist tells the story of the transformation of inert matter into complex organic forms, thanks to the principles of self-organization. His creations popularize scientific concepts and theories on the origins of life, and draw parallels between the processes of nature and computer science.

Markos Kay brings to light the beauty of invisible biological processes and leads us to reflect on the mysterious principles of self-organization that triggered the dawn of life. Inspired by biological imagery and abstract expressionist paintings, the Cypriot artist is passionate about generative art. He uses technologies such as generative algorithms and post-production software to create strikingly realistic, evolving digital worlds. Suffering from a chronic neuro-immune disease, these innovations have enabled him to regain his ability to create.

From 16:00, the Théâtre du Vieux St-Étienne begins its transformation for the Electronic Sessions. Sound tests will be carried out and may alter the visitor’s experience.

Organicity & aBiogenesis are presented as part of the Fête de la Science.
